1. David Adjaye - Buildings are deeply emotive structures which form our psyche. 2. David Adjaye - The physical craft of construction and the narrative behind the craft of making buildings 3. David Adjaye - Instead of seeing a work as a string of projects, we must assemble it as a single body, a sphere. 4. Teodoro González de León - The purpose of the work is imperative opposed to a void design, waiting to be contemplated. 5. Teodoro González de León - The number one goal of architecture is to create useful objects. These objects must be experienced but must also move us at the same time. 6. a. Conceptually inspired by street artist Banksy, Sweat explore the issues of capitalism and its effects of consumerism on the third world. The box was designed to separate an underground factory, where the cognitive mechanics of the exploited workers threads that act as the life force to the capitalist money tree, where the tree grows leaves made out of American dollar bills. The repetition of the worker’s inn their factories was employed to enforce the lack of individuality each worker faces. b. The base is embedded in the earth and surrounded by the Bay’s water and a giant lily pond. It resembles a lotus flower with petals rising towards the sky and at the same time resembles a hand. Final Rendered Light Rail Stop and Concepts

Concept 1: My first concept is inspired by architect Teodoro González de León, who was interested in the contrast between solidity and permanence against lightness and novelty. Within my light rail stop I explore both the juxtaposition and interrelation of these aspects. The prevalent incorporation of horizontal beams throughout the stop run parallel to the light rail carriages, supporting them and giving them strength as they emulate their movement. As this aspect gives the forms of my structure strength, it also has a sleek and light character coupled with the consistent use of metal textures. Concept 2: My second concept is inspired by David Adjaye, as he stresses the importance of building a structure as a single form, as opposed to individual aspects thrown together.
